Track Chameleons, see some snakes, crocodiles and monitor lizards and meet a 120 year old Tortoise at the Uganda Reptiles Village. Based 3km off the main road in Entebbe, the visit took us about an hour, so it’s worth combining a visit here with some of the other attractions in Entebbe.

The Zoo in Entebbe (Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre) has many animals, including Lions, Leopards, Chimpanzees, Giraffes and Elephants. You can book behind the scenes experiences, go on a forest trail, have donkey and camel rides, play in the big playground, and have fun on the sandy beach. Open 8.30am – 6.30pm. Here are the rates.

45 minutes by speedboat from Entebbe (or 20 minutes by air from Entebbe or Kajjansi airstrip) is the Chimpanzee Sanctuary on Ngamba Island. Observe the 49 resident chimpanzees and learn what it takes to care for them, with the option to help feeding them. Make sure you book in advance.

There are many restaurants with sandy beaches in Entebbe: Goretti’s, 2 Friends

Aero beach is a sandy private beach next to the UN base, with 2 massive abandoned aircrafts and various sculptures. It can get incredibly busy at the weekends, and is more of a lively beach than a relaxing one.

Lido Beach is next door to Aero Beach, it’s a beautiful party spot, often busy at weekends.

One Love Beach isn’t as far as Entebbe, it’s located in Busabala to the South of Kampala. It’s a more chilled place than other beaches, a nice spot for sunbathing, playing beach games.
